I don't know about you, but once the summer heat arrives here in the Midwest I can't wait to change out our heavy winter bedding for something lighter and brighter. So in comes my vintage white chenille bedspread (thanks, Mom) and white linen pillowcases.
But my favorite change this year was a cheap and easy one. I've had this down-filled bolster pillow since we first got married 15 years ago. Back then, I custom ordered the cover from The Company Store in hunter green, with our monogram on it.
WAY too dark for summer! (Okay, so I don't iron at all much. Surprised?)
Then, in come my flour sack towels to the rescue. Wal-mart. Five towels for $5.00.
Perfect fit, just roll that sucker up inside the towel and tie off the ends with ribbon, fabric remnants, whatever you'd prefer. DONE.
It's a beauty thing.
Best part (beside the cost)? It's NO SEW! And you all know how much I love a NO SEW project! For another great NO SEW project using flour sack towels, see my Flour Sack Towel Monogram Pillow tutorial here.
So what do YOU do to "summerize" your bedroom? Living room? Family room?
Have a great weekend and stay cool!
xoxo

Great idea - thanks for sharing.
The Walmart towel ideal is brilliant. Richard from My Old Historic house.
How clever....and I love all the crisp clean white.
Your vintage chenille bedspread is such a breath of fresh air. Such a great use for the towels and no sew is always a plus!
Whoa - flour sack towels at Walmart? I never knew they existed. Oh - thank you so much for sharing this! Can't wait to get some.
And I am so jealous of your beautiful chenille bedspread!
Such a fantastic idea and charming creations!! Thanks for linking up at Feathered Nest Friday! :)
I'm addicted to those flour sack clothes and love what you did with them. Very cute pillow. I get mine at the Dollar General 3 for $3. I'm going to have to check Wally World the next time I'm there too. Thank you for linking with air your laundry Friday!
