Results of the Dollar Store Pop-up Vase Test

May 3, 2012

Well, whaddya think?  I kind of like it.

Chickadee number three helped me cut the wildflowers this morning so we could test out our new pop-up vase.  They're the first so far to bloom.  Aren't they pretty?

If you missed my post on the amazing vase from the other day,  just go here.  Back yet?  Okay.  As I was saying, I kind of like it.  When we first poured in the beads and the water it looked like this.

Then after a few hours it looked like this.

And after overnight it looked like this!

I intended to tie some sort of burlap or something around it as an embellishment but that hasn't happened.  Might look nice, though.  I'd say it was worth the $1.00 investment.  (The package says it's reusable, time will tell on that.)  Now I just have to keep my kids from sticking their hands in it!

May have to check those out. The flowers are very pretty. I need to make a trip to DT soon - stock up on disposable baking pans, etc.
Enjoy your evening.

We had some of those flower pellet thingys, I guess they hadn't thought of the vase yet, hehe, and they really do dry out and plump up again over and over. I know this because I have a daughter who likes to dig 'em out and randomly leave 'em in a glass of water now and then.:OP They take forever to dry out so in the meantime, they make for a nice game of Don't Let The Cat Eat Those.

It looks pretty cool. Interested to see if it makes the flowers last longer. What is the actual vase made of. I like that it comes in a variety of colors

Hi Kathy, I think they use the same stuff to keep the moisture in the new fangled diapers...a item I am getting requainted with. The flowers are beautiful! Love, penny

I think this is such a fun idea and well worth the $1 investment. Great outdoor idea too, pool area, casual parties, etc. Thanks for the Good Housekeeping seal of approval.
