Farmhouse Sale French Wire Plant Stand

June 25, 2012

Last week I was lucky enough to find a white, chippy, shabby chic French wire plant stand, rust and all.  {Or "patina'd", as we French lovers like to say.}  I played around with PicMonkey and came up with this.

{For anyone whose interested, I used Sketchedy for this photo.}

I'm sure it was meant for holding lots of beautiful, perfectly aged terra cotta pots filled with fragrant blooms and trailing vines that last all summer long.  Unfortunately, I have an oh-so-black thumb.  So I guess I'll have to find other things to put in it instead.  Any suggestions?

 I do like my white enamelware pitcher and lavender blooms for now, though.

Look at that beautiful rust!

And the scroll work really caught my eye.

 I actually plan on using it indoors.  Maybe I can fill it with vintage linens?

 I don't know....

What would you do?

Have a great week, friends.

xoxo

What an awesome find (and isn't sketchedy so much fun to play with?). I joke that Martha and I part ways at gardening so I'd likely use that lovely to store pretty papers or other things in my stash.

Switch out the contents as you think of different ones. I like what you have in there now. Plants, magazines, containers of shells - lots of options - depending on where you use it in and/or the season, etc.
Enjoy your evening.

Love your wire planter! Linens would look pretty in there. The first thing that came to my mind was different sized moss balls!

Love it! Oh yes, the rust is perfect. I really like the simplicity of the pretty pitcher and flowers. I think it would look good with silver platters and even some faux greenery mixed in.

What a great stand, Kathleen! If you are going to use it inside, it would be great in a bathroom holding rolled towels. In the kitchen you could put some dishes and containers filled with your utensils {so it could be pretty and functional}, maybe with a pretty dishtowel hanging off it "just so". You could put some books or magazines in it and put it next to your favorite chair. I think you will find a lot of ways to use this piece.

It's beautiful! There are so many possibilities...crusty clay pots, towels, linens, dishes....I'm sure you'll come up with something great pending the room you choose to exhibit it in. But for now your pitcher w/lavender blooms doesn't hurt for now. ;-)
