You all know that I'm as eager as the next girl when it comes to making cheap frugal knock-offs. So when I saw this in Anthropologie's November 2012 catalog for $298.00 I just had to share the photo right away.
I also love Anthropologie as much as the next girl, but seriously?
$298.00?
It would cost me all of $2.00 to make one of these with Goodwill goblets and a little Superglue.
I think it would look great on my Thanksgiving table.
Sorry I haven't actually made one yet. It's just that I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off the table.
I'll be sure to share when I do.
Happy Halloween, Y'all!

I suspect you could go thru your cabinets and construct one of those without going shopping - I know I could. I think I would distribute the weight a little better tho - those look a bit fragile - add a candle and I think I will leave the room. :-D
ReplyDeleteSeriously?!! They do look rather precarious. I know you can do it as well if not better than Anthro Kathleen!

Go forth and inspire!

That's just crazy! I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something much better!
ReplyDeleteTsk, tsk, tsk. I wonder if they'll sell any? And I wonder who sat around and picked out that price? I hadn't seen them, but Anthro is a favorite of mine, too. Can do no wrong style-wise. Price-wise? Well, that's another thing altogether.
ReplyDeleteIt probably costs the fortune to SHIP them. A while back I was in my local Goodwill and 2 women (I was gonna say 2 elderly ladies, but wait a minute, I count as a senior myself now!) were discussing the merits of different pressed glass dishes to build into stands/bird baths/planters and were piling comports, salad bowls, etc. up on the floor to see the effects. It didn't tempt me as they were paying full price for their choices! I don't think I will ever have a household where such candlesticks would SURVIVE. Cats, now! Previously, 2 kids, large rowdy dog, cat, hot air heat, woodstove ash, a basketball. If they didn't get broken, they'd look lousy with all the dust. They were obviously invented by someone without ANY of the above! I suppose it would be sacrilegious to say they would be cool painted with black gloss spray paint for Halloween?!?
