It's a Pec Thing Antique and Flea Market

This past weekend I attended an infamous flea market in these parts, affectionately known as the "Pec Thing." Formally speaking, it's the Pecatonica Antique and Flea Market.  It's held in Pecatonica, Illinois, about an hour and a half away from my home.  It only takes place twice a year, so it's a real treat if I can make the trip.

I went on day two of two, so it was clear to me that much of the good stuff had already been sold.  But it was still fun to walk around and check out what was there on a beautiful day with my family.

I just loved that marshmallow tin.

I'm a sucker for anything plaid.

I loved this old crate, as well as the cart it was sitting on.  Perfect for a paint job.

And what kind of flea market would it be without some chippy, white shutters?

Despite needing a serious upholstery job, I thought this couch was awesome!  And check out those boots.

Yes.  The price tag says $625.00.  No wonder it was still sitting there.

Some things just defy explanation.

And then there was my son's favorite part of the whole day, what made the trip worth it in his opinion: funnel cakes.  Truth be told, I have to say that it was a highlight for me, too. And of course I only had the whole thing a bite.

I didn't splurge on any purchases.  To the contrary, I got a handful of keys and some old charms for my jewelry creations for around $10.00.  And from the "everything is half-off sale" vendor I picked up this.

It even came with it's own dirt and spider webs.  But for $5.00, whose complaining? I knew I could put it to good use.  But that's a story for another day.

Been to any good flea markets lately?

  1. What fun, Kathleen! You found some treasures! I had the plaid lunchbox in the first grade! Wow, I guess I'm an antique too! Dang! Love the photos! I haven't been going to flea markets much anymore. I have far too much already!
