Get Your Farmhouse Style On: 8 Ways to Use Bottle Drying Racks

April 14, 2015

I truly love farmhouse style. I think it goes well with my love of junk vintage. A great example of farmhouse style is the bottle drying rack. And if it's vintage and/or French, well, that's even better. I got mine out recently (spring cleaning and redecorating and all) and then I perused Pinterest for inspiration. I even created a Pinterest board dedicated to them. I was just fascinated with all the different ways you can decorate with them.

NOTE: In all instances I attempted to link back to the photo's original source. Whenever the original source could no longer be found,
I linked directly back to the Pinterest pin itself.

WOW was all I could think when I saw this bottle rack transformed into a kitchen chandelier. I really love the horizontal,
white plank wall in the background, too.

One absolutely lovely way to use your drying rack is to hang small jars or vases filled with flowers from it.
The vases should stay full what with all those spring blooms starting to come in!

I want one of these old bottle dryer rack thingies to hold coffee cups. . . the ones you buy these days only hold six. this is amazing

Tea cups. Ah, tea cups. As an avid tea drinker. (Earl Grey or Vanilla Caramel if you must know), naturally I've fallen in love with Jennifer Rizzo's tea cup tower, created by hanging her delicate and colorful teacups on this tall bottle drying rack.

Perhaps you're an avid gardner?
Then you can put your drying rack to work as a terra cotta pot holder! I think the pots' patina,
from outdoor wear and tear, makes them all the more  appealing to the eye.

I would love to imagine even shabbier pots on my rack, maybe like
these awesome specimens?

For such an incredible, natural patina to occur I imagine it would take years. Sigh.
Here's another example of the rack's utility on the potting bench.

What about all those crafting and sewing supplies currently strewn around your dining room/kitchen/office studio? A drying rack makes a pretty statement when decked out with ribbon, twine, and tiny pails filled with paper tags and buttons.

If I used mine in my vintage jewelry-making studio it would fill up fast. I think it would
make a beautiful jewelry holder, too.

Now this one really speaks to my heart. The chippiness, the shabbiness and oh! the vintage turquoise color! I think just about anything would look good on this one. Even, well, bottles.

In addition to the tabletop variety there is also a hanging variety. This huge wall drying rack
is being put to good use as a garden storage/organization hub.

And this modern-day replica couldn't be prettier filled with such delicate and colorful plates.

(I am not being compensated in any way. I just love my drying rack and wanted to tell you about it!)

Speaking of modern-day replicas, that's where mine comes in. I did NOT like the price tags I was seeing on tall and/or vintage bottle drying racks until I discovered this reasonable facsimile at Cost Plus World Market for only $14.99.  I actually bought it a few years ago but had to place it in storage when the house went on the market.  Now I'm able to bring it out and I'm really happy about that! (They're still selling it people! Walk, don't run!)

I wanted to share pictures of my own drying rack set up in my kitchen, but I've been sick as a dog these past few days. So this will have to do for now!

I hope I've inspired you to try something new with your own botttle drying rack!

WHICH IDEA IS YOUR FAVORITE?
(I'm going with crafting supplies or flower vases.)

Stay tuned for my own drying rack reveal, hopefully later in the week!
