Friday Finds: Vintage Edition #13

Vintage swizzle stick spoons

Welcome to another edition of Friday Finds! Today I want to share with you a few things that I picked up at the Randolph Street Market in Chicago back in August.

I'll start with these cool retro swizzle sticks or what I like to call cocktail stirrers. Ever since I revamped that vintage bar cart, I've been fascinated with all things Mad Men-esque. From cocktail shakers to these funky stirrers to matching vintage barware, I've been on the lookout for this type of find. I remember my parents using swizzle sticks when I was a little girl.

Next up, some vintage treasures I picked up for my jewelry making.

vintage DU, horseshoe, Pilot Int'L and BEO charms

I picked the rhinestone DU pin because my husband was a "DU" in college, plus, well, it's rhinestones! The vintage horse and horseshoe charm is for good luck. I'll use it for one of my Irish dance charm bracelets. The charm on the lower left says "Pilot International." And the heart is a Beta Epsilon Omega sorority charm dated 1992.

Here's the Pilot International charm up close. I researched it and found out that they are a volunteer service organization that was founded in Macon, GA in 1921.

Vintage Canadian Ace Brand Beer Key Chain

This is one of my favorites from the crazy table of stuff. I believe it was part of a vintage keychain marketed by Canadian Brand Ace Beer.

The other side says "Genuine Four Leaf Clover Good Luck Charm."

silhouette charms, monogram charm, mustard seed charm, pearls in cage

I'm in love with silhouette charms. So I was thrilled to find these! I also love old monogram jewelry. "MJB." I wonder who that was? The charm in the middle holds a mustard seed, which is one my absolute FAVORITE charms of all time. And who doesn't love the caged pearl charm? It reminds me of popular necklaces when I was a little girl.

vintage gold gloves clip

I also picked up this cool vintage glove clip for $1.00. At least I think it's a glove clip. If you have any other ideas please share them in the comments!

vintage bible charm statue of liberty charm bracelet

The last of the jewelry is this costume pearl and charm bracelet. It had such an odd mix of charms that I was intrigued by it. For the life of me I can't figure out what, if anything, its theme is supposed to be. If you have any ideas please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

I was also doing a happy dance when I got these two (what I'm going to call) vintage industrial cage lamp covers. I just love the look of their rusty goodness.

They open up so that you can put the actual lighting element in there. As much as I'd like to get a wiring kit and set these up as working lamps I'm afraid I don't have anywhere to use them right now. So I came up with another use for them!

The bottoms are adjustable so you can make them smaller or larger.

I made them just the right size for holding yummy pumpkin spice votives, so I at least get to use them for something right now! Set of 2 industrial galvanized metal lamp bulb cage protectors are AVAILABLE.

Well, that's it for today, friends!

looks like a nice stash of treasures - you did good. I used to have many of the sweater clips/guards. Have not seen one made like that, but that does not mean they don't exist.
I am another one that loves to sift thru containers of bits and pieces like that. Used to be many vendors at the flea market here that who have shallow box tops, trays, etc. full of such anywhere from 25cts. and up. They moved the flea to a different loc. and upped the cost for the vendors to set up, so most everyone with stuff like that stopped selling there.
Now off to see what the clip is for. :)
Enjoy the weekend.

Kathleen, you found some great treasures! Wow! You just amaze me with your finds! I agree, it's a vintage glove clip. I cheated and Googled it. My Dad had one of those hanging lights in the cage too. I can't wait to see what you do with these. Have a great weekend!

Great finds Kathleen--I'm like you, I love pawing through piles of junk. Tables of junk, boxes of junk, whatever. It's all good by me :)
