Friday Finds #18: Vintage Edition

I'm really excited to share one of my latest finds with you today. It epitomizes
vintage French décor and all things Restoration Hardware that I simply and
positively cannot afford.

$1349-$1895
I swoon over maps like this one from Restoration Hardware,
but the price is enough to give you a coronary.

So you can imagine my glee when I scored this set of six framed vintage-inspired
prints depicting the city of Paris. I see replicas of detailed Paris maps on sites like
Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Ballard Designs. And their pricing? Well,
it'll cost you. Granted, mine are only 8"x10", but when hung together I think they'll
pack a solid punch.

See what I mean?

I really do think they look authentic. The detail is amazing.

My cost? $2.99 per frame (that's a LOT for me to pay), so total cost was $12.94
($17.94 minus a $5.00 coupon). That's much more than I'm used to paying for
anything at Goodwill, but sometimes you just gotta go for it!

Now to figure out where I want to hang these beauties is my next task. I never
relish hanging anything (don't ask, I'm pretty challenged in this regard) but I think
this project will be worth it!

  1. What a great score! I think it looks great with the different sites around the border. Hmmm I actually have cousins who are working and living in Paris. I wonder if I could get them to send me something. Show me when you hang it. ;o)

  3. Lovey! I tend to paint on old maps, but mostly English maps because they're so much easier to come by.

  6. Talk about a lucky find, so happy for you. Those maps are incredible and so much more affordable. Nothing like holding those maps hostage the other places have to sell. If they could get those maps why are they so darned expensive?
Can get maps at Graphics Fairy but don't know what variety and how many they might be. As the one lady commented said she had cousins in Paris, get hold of them, could always sell copies of any maps they send you.
For some reason places don't just give out maps anymore. Few years ago I asked friend to send me map of Tucson, she had to go to few places then it cost her like $5 for map of Tucson. Wish I still had old maps my parents used to have from Tucson when we first moved there in 1950. I'd love to display those.
    Happy week

  8. I agree that putting them all together looks just as good as one large one. That was a great find and neat idea to display them.

  13. LOVE these prints and they will look amazing hung. I would have been jumping up and down if I had found them! I have been collecting some vintage Eiffel Tower prints to make a gallery wall, but still need some other items to add to it. Maybe I can find a map, even if it's small.
