Hello and welcome back to another edition of the Junk Revision challenge! This month we were challenged to come up with a storage/organizational solution using something repurposed. And I knew right away what I would use!
As a vintage lover, I tend to pick up odds and ends at flea markets, estate sales, barn sales -- you name it -- without even knowing what I’ll do with my purchases. I just know that I will find a use for them, some day. That’s what happened when I picked up my first vintage tart tins. They were just so darn cute and shiny! (I also have some that really show their age.)
Have I used them to bake tarts? Uh, no. (Even though I do love baking!) But I have come up with a great alternate use for them. As a vintage jewelry designer I always have tons of bits and bobs that I need to keep organized on my work table. And these tins fit the bill perfectly.I love all the different shapes and sizes. Once I had acquired a good number of tart tins I expanded my collection with other vintage metal containers. Some may be jello molds, or just small loaf pans. Either way, I make good use of them all.
Next up is a “pan” that I picked up at Salvation Army a few months back. I first introduced it in Friday Finds #17: Vintage Edition. I had no idea what it was used for, although it did say “Made in France” on it. So I did a bit of research. Turns out that it’s a…..wait for it……escargot pan! Yuk. (No offense intended to all you escargot-lovers out there!) I know I consider myself a Francophile, but I draw the line at escargot. I certainly had no need for an escargot pan, but I did have a need for another jewelry organizer. And voila!
Last but not least, I’ve also been using vintage cupcake tins to organize my jewelry as well. I use all these vintage finds on my work table, but you can certainly use them on your dresser, vanity, or even in your drawers. And they can hold not only jewelry but coins, small cosmetics, hair accessories or general crafting supplies as well.
I have to share something funny. Last week when my Country Living Magazine was delivered I poured over it as I always do and guess what I found? Take a look.
This is a scanned page from their January/February 2016 edition. The article is entitled “The Antique Lover’s Guide to Organizing.” Yup. I’m in good company. Or should I say great minds think alike?

Great minds do think alike!! Kathleen this is very creative and I like the vintage shine of the metal. I'm with you on the escargot pan. You make a better use of it! :)
Great way to organize and so pretty too! And looks like you are right on trend too - :)
Kathleen, I love these little tart pans - so cute and you have put them to perfect use. Isn't it fun when you find something you've come up with in a magazine and think yep I did that too. Great ideas. Cathy
Kathleen, love how you organized your jewelry!! Nice repurpose of the escargot pan!!! Those tart pans and cupcake pan are a nice way to organize the little bits of jewelry!!! Great job!!
Great find! I love finding vintage treasures too. I really like how the tins look full of jewelry! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love this Kathleen, most of my jewelry is arranged in vintage dishes on a cake stand but I have some of these tins and love the idea! Thanks for the inspiration ;)
Tart pans are so fun, what a pretty and smart way to organize!
Now that I am going grain free and no longer baking as much I have to raid the kitchen cabinet for repurposed storage. I enjoyed looking at your collection of vintage jewelry in your vintage containers!
These are wonderful organizing containers! thanks
Those vintage tins are like storage bling for your gorgeous collection of vintage bling in the way that they are so shiny and interesting in their own right. These always catch my eye at the thrift stores, but it never dawned on me to use them for storage, thank you for the inspiration!
Awesome!! How amazing is the Country Living article!! Wonderful idea and love how it comes off a rustic and chic with all that amazing jewelry.
What a great idea ! And a complementary way to display your antique jewelry by using antique cookware ! You have given me some ideas thanks.
This is great! I just pickup up a bunch of tin kitchen items at a thrift store to sell in my Etsy shop. I am going to go back now and suggest to use them to hold jewelry! Great post!
That is cute Kathleen! I love the muffin tin like that! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
