Vintage-Inspired Easter Candy Jars

March 20, 2016

I truly can't believe that Easter's right around the corner, can you? The Midwest seems to be getting an early spring this year, along with an early Easter for all of us. And I'm okay with that. I haven't done anywhere near the amount of Easter decorating I've been known to do in the past but I did take the time to create a small vintage-inspired Easter candy jar vignette to share with you today.

Truth be told, I was supposed to create something with eggs for a monthly blogger group challenge I participate in but for the life of me I could not get any decent pictures of it. The weather here was so dark and dreary for days that I seriously could not get one good picture. So I missed the blog challenge. But once the weather cleared I did get a few blog-worthy pictures to share and I'm so glad I did.

I started off with these $1.00 jars from the dollar bins at Target. I wasn't quite sure what I'd use them for when I bought them but I knew I would use them eventually.

In preparation for the blogger challenge that I ultimately I missed, I picked up some glitter eggs from the Dollar Store. I knew they'd fit perfectly into the mouth of the Target dollar bin jars.

I decided to decorate the plain-Jane jars with stuff I already had on hand. For two of the jars I added some pink sequined rick rack around the top and for the other jar I added some jute wrap and some vintage lace.

I also added some chalkboard  tags onto two of the jars. I used my chalk paint pens and put my two daughters' initials on the tags. They already came with jute for hanging so I could easily attach them to the jars.

I'll add a tag for my son on the the third jar before Easter.

I picked up the small white ceramic cake stand at Target for $3.00 last year.

I had fun adding the bunnies and the colorful garland to the mix.

I picked up this garland at Target for $3.00.

Can you tell I love bunnies?

Right now the jars are filled with glitter eggs.
But maybe the Easter Bunny will fill them with
REAL candy eggs on Easter morning!
Who knows?

My homeschooled son is on spring break this week (yay me!) so I just might have time to get in one more thrifty DIY Easter decor post. Fingers crossed! And you can always stop by this Thursday for our weekly Vintage Charm link party event!

I buy things all the time without an idea in mind, but sooner or later it all gets used. Love this idea, Kathleen.
