Hello friends! I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit today. I absolutely love sharing my Thrill of the Hunt treasures with you. While my finds are not always vintage, they are all great finds in their own right, at least in my world! I like to think that my weekly scores provide you with ideas and inspiration as to just what's out there for the taking, if you'll only look for it! Thanks for coming along for the ride with me each week.
And to make things even better I also found this.
It's a rendering of what we Catholics like to call The Sacred Heart.
My cost: $4.99. The dimensions are approximately 20"x16".
This was on the back, and explains the mystery of the Sacred Heart.
The artist who painted both pictures is C. Bosseron Chambers (1882-1964). Bosseron Chambers, born in St. Louis, was of French-Irish descent. He was known for his figurative works, mainly portraits or religious scenes.
While unframed "prints" of his work are a dime a dozen on ebay ($15.00 for an 8"x 10" Scared Heart print) I can't help but wonder what mine are worth. Some originals are going for $8,000.00. While I doubt mine are original, they do appear to be more than just "prints." They appear to be actual paintings done on some sort of canvas, or board, and they are each framed. They are by no means paper prints. You can see the raised brushstrokes all over the surface of the painting. It's a bit frustrating because I'm way out of my league trying to appraise these things. Anyone have any ideas?
This sticker was on the back of the Virgin Mary's painting. I love it when you can trace something old back to its origins. Sadly, I googled the heck out of this information but got nowhere with it. It appears that while the name Wiltzius was prominent in Chicago, the gift shop no longer exists.
I'm in love with both vintage frames, but I'm partial to the Virgin Mary's frame. It has such delicate detail. While I may never learn their true value, I'll love them just the same.
I also picked up two crisp, white, king-sized pillow shams for $3.00 at the Salvation Army.
Our bed is a California King (huge) so anything smaller than a king sized pillow looks teeny tiny and really out of place. But well-made king sized pillow shams can be expensive! So I was thrilled to find these two at a great price.
While not vintage, the stitching detail on them is what caught my attention. Linens are always a fun find. And you can't go wrong with white! Right now our entire bed is covered in white, from the ruched comforter to the pillow shams to the throw pillows and throw blankets.
I love decorating with books. How about you? I picked up these two books at Goodwill for $1.49 each. I'm always happy to add some more books to my Reader's Digest Condensed Books collection. There's something about the colorful spines that always makes me smile.
Last but not least I have a few vintage Atlas E-Z Seal jars to share. Now that's vintage.
My cost: $2.80 each (Salvation Army). The Hazel-Atlas Glass Company started making these jars around 1882. The company ceased to exist in 1964. Based on that, I figure my Atlas E-Z seal jars are at least 52 years old.
I'm quite happy with this small haul, and can see all my finds being used in and around my house with love. Keep an eye out for how I use them in posts to come!

Wonderful finds. I love the Atlas E-Z Seal jars.
Great finds, Kathleen. The art is beautiful and I love the Atlas jars!
Love the Atlas jars! And you're right, you can never go wrong with white linens. That detail is so pretty.
Great finds, my favorite is the Mary painting. I collect white ceramic Mary statues and old bibles. People think I'm weird since I'm not even religious but there's something about them that I love!
