How To Style A Vintage Summer Cloche

Cloches are one of my favorite decorating go-tos. You can fill them with just about anything and they always end up looking good. I've used them for Christmas, Spring, baked goods (yes, baked goods), jewelry and even topiaries. And now I can add vintage books and coral to the list.
I got my inspiration from - where else? - Pinterest.

This cloche, styled with vintage books and coral, was on display at the Willow Home and Garden blog. As soon as I saw it I thought of some coral I picked up this past winter at Salvation Army for $1.69.

Here it is, sitting atop some of my favorite vintage thrift-store books.

This one was found on My Country Roads blog. I love that they added a rosary into the mix. I should have done that, too! Lord knows I have plenty of vintage rosaries, so perhaps I will.

While my books aren't as old as the ones on Pinterest, I do think they make a nice vignette with my thrift store coral. It's a perfect display if you like understated seasonal vignettes.

And the silver cake pedestal was another thrift store find.

I first introduced it last fall as a Vintage Cake Tray with Hydrangeas and Pumpkins. I'd say it's served me well in the display department.

Believe me now? Styling a vintage summer cloche is as easy as one (cloche), two (books), three (coral).

And if you don't have, or can't find, any (affordable) coral, you can always make your own on the cheap. Yup, I said MAKE your own.

But really, any shells will do, so why not try your hand at it?

  1. Beautiful! I love using cloches and right now all of mine have birds and nests in them. I only have one large one, so I have to use small items in the others. Beautiful inspirational photos!!

  3. Kathleen, I love all your cloche arrangements, especially how you have them displayed on the silver pedestal, and I like the book display. You didn't say where you got the cloche though. I hardly ever see them at yard sales or thrift stores, so I was just wondering.
    I also pinned.
