I had originally planned to share this primitive handmade wooden trug as part of my next Thrill of the Hunt post. But Mr. CBD sent me four - count 'em, four - dozen roses for Valentine's Day and well, when someone sends you that many roses you just have to shout it from the rooftops! Wouldn't you agree?
With that many flowers I kind of panicked at first. Did I have enough vases? Luckily I have a number of large blue vintage mason jars that are just perfect for roses. I also have lots of ironstone pitchers that I like to use as vases as well. So I put two dozen of them into Mason jars and placed them in my trug for display.
Isn't this cow creamer adorable? I picked it up at Goodwill for a song. I think it was brand new from Target.
I also have somewhat of a vintage clock collection that I like to display every now and again. I thought they worked well in this trug vignette.
I'm really quite enamored with it. It's definitely not a cookie cutter flower trug, which I believe only adds to its rustic charm.
Someone put their heart and soul into making it. It's not fancy. But it's rustic and worn and perfectly imperfect.
I can dress it up or dress it down. Either way it's a winner in my book.
And then there are the roses.....
Needless to say they were the highlight of my Valentine's Day.
How about you?
What's YOUR favorite flower?

your flowers in?

ReplyDeleteThe roses are beauties! Four dozen??? Impressive, I'll say! The trug is neat...never heard the term, but I'm all about rusticity. Glad you didn't paint it๐

I've never heard that word before either, but I sure do like the piece! Your roses are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDont' cha just love trugs? So many ways and styles to make themin. Is one of my favorite things to have hubs make for mme if can get him tomake me anything these days. Great find, love simple style. Trugs are so useful for styling vignettes.
ReplyDeleteHow I envy you your clock collection, very hard to find here in western CO. Seems like when I do find one don't have any money or it's too expensive for me. Don't know what it is about vintage clocks but do love how they look. Someday want to get down to Delta and Montrose to browse their thrift and antique shops.
We live few miles west of Grand Junction out in rural area, not much of a city person since we lived in MT and KY out in country. Wish we had 20 acres as we did in MT and 1 1/2 acres in KY.
Just have 1/2 acre now but since we're in middle to later 70's 1/2 acre is plenty to take care of. We have wonderful views all around us.
Have wonderful Friday and weekend
