Pat from Bringing French Country Home shares my love of old books. In A Field of Dreams she shares how she stumbled upon a vintage collection of poems entitled "Brilliants" by Eugene Field, best known for his children's poem, "Wynken, Blyken and Nod" written in 1889. He lived in her neighborhood at one time and a branch of her local library is named after him. If you love old books you'll find this volume swoon-worthy. I was so intrigued by the historical background she provided that I did a bit of research on my own and found the entire contents of the collection online. If anyone is interested they can read the entire contents of the "Brilliants" collection in a PDF provided by The University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne. It's a unique slice of history for sure. Thanks,Pat, for sharing the lovely story.

Carrie at Thirty Eighth Street devotes her blog to inspiring others to see the full potential in recycling furniture. In my opinion her submission this week is outstanding. She took a stately Thomasville dresser that had seen better days and converted it into a media console. Then she applied a Balayage painting technique where there is a gradual transition between colors or lack of color. Carrie gives us a detailed painting tutorial for her stunning Balayage Inspired Painted Media Console.

Jann at Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson shared her darling basement Valentine kitchen and I am completely smitten! From polka dots and checks to charming tins and dishes, it's overflowing with red and white vintage treasures and sprinkled with whimsy. Delightful, Jann!

I find my appreciation for mid-century modern furniture and design growing stronger everyday, which explains my love for Interior Frugalista blogger, Marie's Mid-Century Modern Bookcase Turned Funky Bar from last week's party. She took advantage of the bookcase's clean, simple lines and added a brave, bold chevron backboard that's out of this world.
