Our Hopeful Home: Farmhouse Friday: Fall Decorating With Boxwood Wreaths

We all know that boxwood wreaths are a staple farmhouse decor item. Often we see them displayed around Christmas time. But today, as part of my Farmhouse Friday series, I want to show you an easy way to use boxwood wreaths in your fall decor.

I am a HUGE fan of boxwood wreaths. Don't tell anyone but I think at last count I had 5 of them (sshhh), in a few different sizes ranging from small to rather large. I use them all over the house to add a fresh element of color and texture to a room. You can imagine how thrilled I was, then, to be asked by my friends at PermaLeaf® to review one of their products and share it with you. Despite the fact that they have SO many products to choose from, my choice was obvious: boxwood wreaths!

Here it is once it arrived, safely encased in its own protective box. While PermaLeaf® has come out with a line of faux outdoor plants that are extremely lifelike and can withstand the elements, my preserved boxwood wreath is best kept indoors, or at least under some kind of roof covering if left outdoors.

Initially I was going to decorate one for Christmas, but I caught the fall decor bug and just had to use it (for now) in a fall vignette. Isn't it gorgeous? My absolute favorite blue pumpkin and white baby boo pumpkin sitting amongst the bright green leaves of my new boxwood wreath: L.O.V. E.. So simple, yet such a perfect fall display featuring all natural elements.

As I was "getting my feet wet," I combined the blue and white pumpkins with some pine cones collected from the yard.

Gathering natural elements from the yard is so easy to do and, obviously, so inexpensive. What's not to like?

After playing around a bit I ended up adding some small orange pumpkins and a few more baby boos. I don't say it often, but I do believe I hit a home run on this one.

While the lovely 17" wreath steals the show, I do believe the tobacco basket I placed it in adds a lovely element of contrasting color and texture as well.

I really can't get enough of this. Every time I see it I can't help but smile!

The real beauty of this wreath is that I can take it out of this vignette and hang it right up for Christmas! I can't wait to decorate it for the holidays! (Be on the lookout for it in upcoming posts.)
