Dollar Tree stores are a great go-to spot for many DIY home decor enthusiasts on a budget. Seeing as that's the story of my life, I figured I could share my Dollar Tree insider-knowledge with you as I find new and noteworthy Dollar Tree items that you, too, can use to beautify your home. Dollar Tree Treasures #3 includes some galvanized buckets, faux cotton stems and hobnail glass (Yes, you heard right!) -- so let's get started!
I'm a huge fan of galvanized metal containers. I have many vintage ones, but I also like newer ones if I can get them for a song. And Dollar Tree does not disappoint on that note. I was thrilled to find their Flowers & Garden galvanized buckets in their garden section. (Which, by the way, has been getting better and better each year.)
The fact that they have writing on them makes them all the more desirable in my opinion. For one dollar they can not be beat. They're perfect for filling with pots of either faux or real plants. Just beware, I found the exact same buckets at Dollar General for $3.00 apiece.
Here's another one of those Dollar Tree galvanized buckets in a different style. I love the style, as well as the French words "Fleurs & Jardin" meaning, once again, flowers and garden. I used it to create my very first fairy garden which I share in How To Make A Fairy Garden On A Budget.
And what vintage-loving gal wouldn't jump at the chance to pick up some hobnail glass for a song? I grabbed two of these babies -- it might look small in the photo but it's actually 8 inches tall which is plenty tall enough to use as an everyday flower vase.
While white hobnail glass is more popular, I have grown to love clear hobnail glass. I even have a post dedicated to it that you can read about in the near future. But for now I give you this beautiful vintage-inspired clear glass hobnail vase. Cost: $1.00. You can see below how I use it to display my Dollar Tree faux cotton boll stems below.
This is not the first time I've sung the praises of Dollar Tree faux cotton boll stems. All stems consist of faux cotton bolls and pine cones. What differentiates the stems is that each one also has (either red, brown or gold) cattails, or wheat.
The stems in this display show the cotton bolls, pine cones, gold cattails and wheat.
For purposes of this post I basically shoved the stems into a vase so that you could see my recent faux stem haul. In the past, however, I also used the stems by pulling off the pieces I didn't want and just leaving the cotton bolls and pine cones in place. I then embellished the bouquet for the season. To see how I did it you can click the link below the next photo.
You can see that I added lamb's ear, pussy willow and clip-on pumpkins (from Dollar Tree, of course) to make a beautiful fall farmhouse bouquet. After I took the pumpkins off I've kept it out all year.
I know that not
all Dollar Tree stores carry the same merchandise at the same time. Even
so, it's my hope that what you read about here in my Dollar Tree
Treasures posts will inspire you to keep an eye out for similar items
that you can use in your own home or as part of your own DIY projects.
Well, that's it for today, friends.
I hope I've inspired you in some way and that
you've enjoyed reading Dollar Tree Treasures #3.

hi kathleen,
Awesome finds! I can't believe all the galvanized metal you found! Great job! laura
Hi Kathleen,
You really found some stylish items at the Dollar Tree. That is awesome. I always buy my sunglasses there because I tend to break them and I had rather break a one dollar pair than a twenty dollar pair.
Your fairy garden is so cute. I am going to read that post next.
Kathy
I'm loving your new series, Kathleen! I shop Dollar Tree regularly, but I find different locations don't always carry the same merchandise. When I see the treasures you score, I'm inspired to be on the lookout!
Pretty and clever, Kathleen, I'm loving these. Hope you're having a great summer.

Your galvanized finds are great. I'm with you, the writing on the front desk so much.
Enjoy your day

Really enjoying this series; I recently got sunflowers in 3 different colors at one of my 2 local DT. Will be ready for late summer/early fall! I'm wondering what painting the inside of the hobnail vases would do; I'd love a Jadeite green one! "They" (forget where I saw it) said cotton bolls would be "out" this year;so glad they were wrong!
