Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my latest thrifty (and mostly) vintage finds with you. I'm excited to get started so here goes!
A few months ago a new vintage mall opened up right near my home. Recently my oldest daughter and I visited it and I brought home a treasure. I'm always drawn to tarnished silver pieces, and this one really spoke to me in all its patina'd goodness.
At first I thought it was a goblet, or some kind of brandy snifter. But upon closer inspection I realized that it's actually a trophy! I know it's hard to see the engraving in this photo, but here's what it says:

Over forty years old! I love that it looks especially loved, and that it's so tarnished it almost looks like mercury glass! Right now it's filled with faux boxwood and is sitting on my living room mantel. So am I ever going to polish it you ask? Nope. I think it's perfect just the way it is.
I'm always on the look out for vintage Christmas ornaments at my local Goodwill, especially vintage glass ones. And recently I hit the jackpot. I found two boxes of Coby glass ornaments for 99 cents a box. They reminded me of ornaments we had when I was growing up.
Apparently they were made by Coby Glass Products Company in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Can't say that I've ever heard of Woonsocket -- have you?
I think the two boxes together offer a great sampling of colors, and you can bet that they'll be on our tree come December.
I was lucky enough to find this box of vintage glass ornaments as well on the same Goodwill trip. For $1.99 I did the happy dance -- each ornament is perfect.
I especially loved the colors -- so vibrant and funky. And the shape is also quite unique.
It looks like they were made in Poland for a manufacturing company in New York.
These numbers were stamped on the bottom of the box. I did a little research and it looks like, based on the numbers, the ornaments were made in 1974 -- forty-five years old. I can't wait to use them this year.

Love your ornaments. I agree with you about the 1974; I had some similar ones in my "hope chest" that I bought around '69 and boxes are similar! Poland has a lot of Christmas ornament makers. I'm not sure, but I think the Christopher Radkco ornaments are Polish. Since kids are grown and gone--and I gave them their ornaments to take with them, I am slowly upgrading my ornaments to more blown glass--old, new, and clearance (ofthen thrifted!) as I really enjoy them.
