So where to begin? As you can see, we have a vintage buffet table sitting under the floating farmhouse shelves, which adds yet another surface to decorate! I chose larger pieces for the buffet, such as the lanterns and large wooden candle holder. As for the shelves, I went mostly with smaller elements, but for the tobacco baskets. I find that the baskets work beautifully to ground all my seasonal displays.
Texture and color are two very important elements of your display. For fall, obvious color choices would be oranges, golds, muted reds and faded greens. These pretty pumpkins in gray, orange and gold make a nice vignette along with the added muted green sprig of lamb's ear.
Using felted pumpkins is a great way to add texture to the display. More fall colors here, including a deep blue, make for a pleasing place to rest your eyes.
One last trifecta grouping of fall feels and colors is this mix of felted pumpkins in orange, gray and white. All my felted pumpkins came from Target's Bullseye Playground.
Here we have natural elements in the form of baby boo pumpkins, both white and orange. (Technically only the white ones should be called baby boos but I can't resist using it for both -- it's such a cute name!) Placing some of them on a galvanized cake stand makes them appear more prominent in the display.
Whitewashed farmhouse wood is a natural texture that adds warmth. For color I added some orange and white mini velvet pumpkins (40% off from Hobby Lobby) and pine cones (from our yard) -- hence more textures and natural elements. For the candle I used an LED remote controlled pillar candle.
I can't get over how adorable these mini velvet pumpkins are. They're also sold in gray and jewel-toned green.
Warm
glowing candles look beautiful in the lanterns at night, and the added Dollar
Tree fall leaf garland gives them just the right touch of color.
I can't say enough about the versatility of the tobacco baskets I use so frequently in my decor. Here, one becomes the perfect backdrop for a three-tiered velvet pumpkin topiary in gorgeous jewel tones!
I chose to keep some of my ironstone collection on the bottom shelf of the buffet. White goes with everything, no? Plus I just love having my collections out in full view whenever possible.
I love how letter boards have become a "thing." They can add humor, philosophy, praise or just plain everyday commentary -- either way I love being able to add words to go along with my decor! (I'm so nuts about it that I even have a "letter board sayings" Pinterest Board! Why not follow along?!!)
I picked up this adorable wooden script "thankful" sign (with buffalo check, no less) at Dollar Tree. It works well here on my farmhouse china hutch.
Another Dollar Tree purchase, this "Farm Fresh" pumpkin sign adds a great punch of color to the otherwise all-white china hutch filled with -- you guessed it -- all white ironstone!
I had a lot of fun decorating these shelves, but I must say it took me more than a few tries to get it set up to my liking. And crazy as it sounds, my mind is already dreaming up ways of decorating them for Christmas -- so stay tuned!
Well, that's it for today, friends!
