I'm not a big Valentine's Day decor fan. However, when our kids were little, I did decorate a bit for the "holiday." I was going to skip it altogether this year, but when I saw two simple crafting supplies -- one at my Dollar Tree and the other at Wal-Mart -- the light bulb went off: I knew I could create a tasteful, DIY Valentine's Day wreath in a matter of minutes for no more than $2.00 plus supplies I already had.

Everyone knows that I'm a huge Dollar Tree fan. One of my great finds was a set of three galvanized fall-themed script letters back in late summer. I used one of those words (after painting it), "Thankful," to decorate a fall-themed fern wreath.
So when I found something similar for Valentine's Day I thought, why not? I can always paint one or all of these three words (Valentine, love, Xoxo) and create something original.
And here was the piece de resistance: Valentine glitter heart picks from Wal-Mart for ninety-eight cents. An idea was coming together . . . .
DIY Valentine's Decor Supplies
*3-piece galvanized Valentine's script words: love, Xoxo, Valentine (Dollar Tree)
*5-piece glitter heart picks (Wal-Mart 98 cents)
Scissors or floral cutters if necessary
Floral hoop wreath (or any other type of wreath you already have in your stash -- mine was thrifted)
Decorative bow (optional)
suction cup hooks (if hanging on glass or mirror)
* supplies I had to purchase for this craft
How To Make A Valentine's Wreath In Minutes Tutorial
1. Begin by painting some, or all, of your galvanized letters. I used two coats (make sure the first coat is completely dry before adding a second coat).
2. Hang up your floral hoop wreath in an appropriate spot, preferably on a mirror or window.
3. Arrange as many suction cups as you need to hold up your dry, painted Valentine's word(s) in whatever spots you deem appropriate.
4. Cut down, with scissors or floral cutters, the wooden stick portion of the glitter heart picks to make them insert more easily into your floral wreath.
5. Insert picks all over the wreath. Mine were just inserted amongst the greenery and flowers.
5. Sit back and enjoy your Valentine's wreath.
My thrifted hoop wreath has come in SO handy for all seasons. I made the buffalo check bow for Christmas decor to go with some buffalo check Christmas stockings, but I'm leaving it up for the winter season and I love how it accentuates the bright white Valentine's words and makes the red glitter hearts pop.
It's subtle, yet impactful at the same time. Valentine. Love. Xoxo. And within that picture frame are the faces of those that we hold most dear.
I positioned the "love" and "Xoxo" underneath the wreath. From a distance, you don't even notice the suction cups at all.
This wreath can easily be changed up by removing/changing the words, choosing a different paint color for the words (can you say red?), using a different accent (in place of the glitter hearts) and on and on. Obviously, finding a thrifted wreath helps keep the overall cost down.

I love that your pretty wreath is simple, sweet, and thrifty! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Your wreath is so pretty, I love how you used the other two Valentine words next to it. I have 2 of these left over from a sign I made, I think I'll try paining them too!
Great wreathe for an awesome price. Love that you have the kids' picture underneath it! Gotta hit my DT; bought the fall words; haven't looked for Valentine's ones!
