Dollar Tree Treasures #9

March 19, 2020

Welcome to Dollar Tree Treasures #9! Dollar Tree stores are a great go-to spot for many DIY home decor enthusiasts on a budget. Seeing as that's the story of my life, I figured I could share my Dollar Tree insider knowledge with you as I find new and noteworthy Dollar Tree items that you, too, can use to beautify your home. Dollar Tree Treasures #9 includes some lovely faux lemons (and how you can use them in your decor), along with two different types of a simple, yet elegant entertaining decor option.

I'm a huge fan of using faux plants, flowers and fruit in my decor. Unfortunately, typical retail prices can be out of this world. So when I saw these packages filled with faux lemons at my local Dollar Tree I could not believe my eyes.

Believe it or not, these faux lemons from Target are cheaper than most -- and they're $9.99 for 11 lemons, or 90 cents apiece!

But three for $1.00 at Dollar Tree averages 33 cents apiece. So yeah, I'll be getting mine at Dollar Tree, where I got six for $2.00. Another potential way for scoring inexpensive faux fruit is at thrift stores and estate sales. I've been able to pick up faux lemons and apples from Goodwill really cheaply.

Here's one way I used those Goodwill lemons to decorate my farmhouse shelves last summer. (Along with Dollar Tree lemon dishware, of course.)  Check it out in Summer Farmhouse Decor Using Lemons and Buffalo Check.

Here's one other way I put those faux lemons to work a few years ago. I had fun styling this vignette after transforming the three-tier farmhouse stand. You can read about that transformation in How To Distress Furniture With Vaseline: Three-Tiered Farmhouse Stand Transformation. I can't remember where I got the faux limes, but the good news is that Dollar Tree has packages of faux limes as well!

Now here's a great Dollar Tree find -- taper candles. They can be quite expensive from places like Yankee Candle or Colonial Candle. For some reason I never noticed them at Dollar Tree until I saw them on display with Valentine's merchandise. I'm happy to say they appear to be a year-round item rather than just seasonal. I prefer the white candles, but they come in a number of different colors to match your tablescapes and/or overall decor.

Tapers are a nice idea when you want to add some coziness and warmth to a gathering. They're also good for adding height to your centerpieces. And at this price (2 for $1.00), you never have to feel guilty for burning tapers -- even if it's for an everyday meal at the kitchen table.

Yes, these are also taper candles. BUT -- they're LED tapers! How cool is that?

I don't know what rock I've been living under lately, but when I found these at Dollar Tree I did a happy dance. I've been a huge fan of LED pillar candles for years, so this was a no-brainer for me.

When turned on, they give off a gentle flicker.

All you need to do is gently twist the bottom of the candle to get it to light up.

When it's not lit up it looks like a regular wax taper candle. And when lit up at night, it casts a nice, warm glow. While they're $1.00 apiece (versus wax tapers at 2/$1.00), I still believe they're a steal! I actually found some "flickering" LED taper candles online for much, much more. I'm loving them on my fireplace mantel in the living room right now, but they can most definitely be used to set the tone for a lovely formal (or even casual) dinner.

There are many more Dollar Tree steals out there for the taking. The important thing is that you get out there and take a look! I know that not all Dollar Tree stores carry the same merchandise at the same time. Even so, it's my hope that what you read about here in my Dollar Tree Treasures post will inspire you to keep an eye out for similar items that you can use in your own home or as part of your own DIY home decor projects.

Well, that's it for today, friends!

I can't believe the price difference for those lemons! They bring so much cheer to your vignette, I need to see if DT has them this year!

The lemons are so sweet in your vignette. I love the Dollar Tree and miss going there. Hopefully soon. Everything is so neat that you have been doing. Keep safe and busy inside. Hopefully soon we will be seeing better weather and we will get closer to getting back to normal.
Big virtual hugs,
Kris
