After our living room remodel was finally finished, I was super happy and couldn't wait to start decorating it in French farmhouse style. I've subtly refreshed the look over time and I took great pleasure in being able to refresh it again this spring with a new, more modern farmhouse style. Photowall contacted me and asked me to review one of their many products, either:

It was difficult for me to decide which product to choose, but I ultimately ended up choosing one of their canvas prints. While I already had a canvas print hanging over the couch in the living room, I was thinking it was time for a change. So this offer from Photowall was perfect. While they have an incredibly large number of images to choose from -- 14,900 just for their canvases alone -- I narrowed it down to one neutral piece of farmhouse art that I knew would work well in our farmhouse living room.

I've always been partial to cotton bolls. I think they add a rustic touch with their neutral colors, as well as texture. I love cotton bolls so much I even learned how to make DIY cotton bolls myself. They were a huge success (one of my most popular tutorials) and I've been displaying them around the house for years. So it was no surprise that the canvas I chose was -- you guessed it -- cotton boll wall art! Once it was ordered (super easy) there was nothing left to do but wait.



It arrived super quickly, in this long, narrow cardboard package. One unique thing worth mentioning about this canvas is that it didn't arrive already put together. You have to put it together yourself, assuming you order a frame (you can just order a canvas without the frame as well). While I was a bit nervous about having to do it myself, I managed to get the job done. I found it most helpful to watch Photowall's instructional video explaining how to do it.


The package included an environmentally-friendly canvas (seen here rolled up in brown paper), four pieces of wood (one hundred percent recyclable wooden frame) with pre-drilled holes, four L brackets with matching screws, and hanging hardware. The wood pieces have 3M strips attached to them so that you can "glue" your canvas to the frame.
  

 Printed assembly instructions were also included. 


Here's the back of the canvas after I finished putting it all together. You can see the three "L" brackets that were screwed into the wood, with four screws each, to hold the frame together. I found it a bit tricky to line up the wood pieces perfectly at their corners, so in the end the pre-drilled holes in the wood did not match the holes in the last "L" bracket (for me to put the screws through). But even with just three brackets completed, the frame was super-secure and I had no problem leaving it as is, without the fourth bracket.

TIP: For this and for all my wall art, or anything I hang on my walls for that matter, I routinely attach felt bumper pads like the one above to the back of the piece on all four corners so as to protect the wall from scratches and dings. You can get these felt pads from the Dollar Tree. They come in all shapes, colors and sizes, depending on your need.


Here it is, up close and personal, and I'm in love! It's the perfect shape for the space, and the perfect size for the floating shelf we had already installed. (My canvas is 27.56" x 19.69".) It's farmhouse decor at its best. Serene, subtle, and simple. Just the vibe I was going for in spring.


White slipcovers are perfect for spring and summer, as are the faux pastel flowers, greenery and pastel pink pillows. 





On one side table is my deconstructed book bundle ("Be Still and Know") and galvanized farmhouse pitcher filled with cotton bolls and pussy willows.


On the left of the couch is my fiddle leaf fig tree which has been growing just beautifully. It's sitting in one of my DIY stenciled and repurposed thrift store baskets. The lamps are also from Goodwill.
