Welcome,
friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my
latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you. Today I'm all
about vintage jute spools, watering cans, ornate pillar candle holders and topiaries. I'm excited to get started so here goes!
I have always wanted a vintage jute spool with embroidery scissors, but they've usually been too pricey for me. A recent estate sale changed my luck in that department.
It's absolutely perfect! Grungy old spool, jute twine and vintage embroidery scissors -- I was in heaven.
These will look cute as decor in my studio, and who knows? They might even get some real-life use as part of some of my many DIY projects. For all of $5.00 I was quite satisfied with my purchase.
This lovely little topiary caught my eye at the same sale. I knew right away that it was for me. I suppose one could say that I - ahem - collect topiaries, so this was a real find. And it was only $2.00 guys -- only $2.00! Straight retail topiary prices can be really harsh, so I did a happy dance when I saw this incredible price!
Then when I got it home and saw it was from Pottery Barn I really knew I had gotten a great deal! After that I cleaned it thoroughly as it was quite dusty and now it's as good as new.
Same estate sale -- although I had my eye on this one for one of my daughters who had a birthday coming up. She loves plants and would be bringing some back to college and would need a watering can like this for her apartment.
It had just the right amount of patina.
I thought it was a steal for $6.00. And it looks very cute in her apartment!
This ornate pedestal/pillar candle stick came from a different, earlier, estate sale. I loved its detail and gold paint, but I didn't love the yellow and green.
But for $6.00 I brought it home anyway because I knew I could give it a facelift, which I did.
Here's the final product sitting right at home with my other chippy, shabby wooden candle sticks. You can see how I gave it the facelift in Estate Sale Pedestal Makeover With Paint, Wax and Dixie Dirt. I'm super happy I brought it home. It's always nice when a vision can actually be brought to life.
