Today I'm sharing how I created a farmhouse wood bead Valentine wreath.

I recently came across this wood bead wreath form at Hobby Lobby. With my 40% off coupon it was only $6.00. I knew I could use it to make a super cute Pinterest-worthy floral wreath. I had a spring wreath in mind at the time. (I know, there's major snow on the ground in the midwest right now, but a girl can dream.)
NOTE: While I bought a premade wood bead wreath form, you can also make your own from scratch with a wood hoop and flat-backed wooden beads. In retrospect, I think that type of wreath would be easier to attach flowers to since my wreath's beads were not permanently attached to each other - they were able to spin around which made it difficult to add flowers to them.
And if that's not your speed either, you can always just skip the whole DIY thing and go buy a floral wood bead wreath already made and call it a day lol!
While I'm not a big Valentine's day decor person, a few days later I came across these pink burlap rosettes at Dollar Tree and I immediately thought of my bare wood bead wreath. I was envisioning using the rosettes as part of a very subtle Valentine's wreath.
I bought the last two packages -- how could I not? I loved them so much that I went to three more stores to buy one more package but every store had sold out! I was really disappointed, but I did get the last package of plain burlap rosettes at one of the stores and figured I'd just have to make it all work. If your Dollar Tree runs out of them like mine did you can get similar pink burlap flowers online.
Floral wire is essential for making any kind of DIY wreath involving faux flowers. I normally get mine at my local Dollar Tree store, but you can also find floral wire online as well.
Last but not least I used two faux lamb's ear picks. I actually cut each of them off of a super tall floral pick I had on hand.
I wanted it to be simple, so I kept the flowers and leaves to a minimum. I think it makes more of a statement that way and draws your eye upward to the beaded top half of the wreath. I also think simplicity is a hallmark of farmhouse style, which is the look I was going for.
I use lamb's ear picks in a ton of home decor projects. I love the soft look they provide, and they go with just about anything you might mix them with.
As mentioned above, the wood beads have a tendency to spin around, making it a bit tough to keep the rosettes frozen in any one position. As a last resort I grabbed some jute twine and added it over the wire, tying the flowers and lamb's ear very tightly to the wreath. (It's definitely easier to do this with twine than it is with wire, that's just my two cents.) That way, the thickness of the jute twine acted as somewhat of a filler between the beads that kept them from spinning.
I had fun hanging it just beneath the mantel of our master bedroom faux fireplace. A whole DIY fireplace post is in the works so stay tuned for that.
I know it may not scream "Valentine's Day" to most people, but that's the point. I wanted a wreath I could use from Valentine's Day through spring. And this is just the wreath for the job! I was really pleased with how it turned out.
Well, that's it until next time, friends!

Love the idea of your crown. Very nice!
Love this! Such a simple, pretty design. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
This is super cute. I love the colors too. Happy Wednesday. xoxo
I like the simplicity of your wreathe; mine are always full and overdone; yours is refreshingly simple and serene. I thought I was pretty good at spotting treasures at Dollar Tree but you always have me beat. I really like those burlap roses and I bet my local store's are all gone. That salmony pink is so pretty. I still have a slight aversion to tan burlap after fringing 160 placemats for my daughter's wedding 9/19! Just kidding! I made pointed table runners with tassels (threads from the fringed placemats) with the leftovers after that!
I love this idea! The wreath is so unique, yet it echoes the understated wreaths I love. I shared it in my weekly favorites post here if you're interested!
This is adorable!! I LOVE the pink roses. This is exactly my kind of Valentine decor...simple and subtle. Love it!
