Today I'm sharing my latest thrifty finds.
Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where
I share my latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you. My
hope is that by sharing my thrifty finds I motivate and inspire you to
explore your own thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and barn
sales and make your own fabulous finds for yourself.
Today it's all about thrifted French decor and more of my fixation with blue and white. So let's get started.
Thrill of the Hunt Find No.1: French-inspired chalkboard with white frame
Any day I find a French-inspired decor item in my thrifting travels is a good day. And the day I found this one for $3.99 from Goodwill (and a $39.99 Ashland price tag from Michael's) I was thrilled.
Not like I needed another chalkboard. But that frame!
And I think adding a boxwood wreath really takes it up a notch.
Here you can see a few of my DIY chinoiserie vases as well. The entire vignette is sitting on my painted French Provincial dresser.
I've wondered if I could replace the chalkboard with a mirror -- I think that would be glorious. But doable? Maybe, but probably not easy. I'll have to put some more thought into it.
Either way, I'm happy with it for now just like it is.
Thrill of the Hunt Find No. 2: Chinoiserie Salt Shaker
It's not like I've tried to hide my love of all things chinoiserie. Even so, I wondered if I crossed the line when I brought home from Goodwill this one single chinoiserie salt (or pepper?) shaker without its match. I mean, one. What was I thinking?
I was thinking about how absolutely beautiful it was and how I had to bring it home. Oh, and that it only cost 50 cents. And who knows? Maybe I'd find a match some day. Yeah, that's it.
That, and I knew it would look lovely grouped together with my other chinoiserie pieces.
I'll talk about the creamer next.
Thrill of the Hunt Find No. 3:
Chinoiserie Porcelain Creamer Made in China
Last but not least is this gorgeous chinoiserie porcelain creamer.
According to the maker's mark it was made in China but that's all I know about it.
I love the pretty details on the handle.
And the fluting that goes around the entire thing. And of course I also love the blue and white pattern hands down.
Filled with flowers, or empty and in a grouping with like items, this creamer will be a favorite for me for years to come. Bonus: it can also be used as the creamer it was meant to be! And don't worry -- I'm sure I'll be able to find a pretty chinoiserie tea cup from my stash to use with it. Maybe now I need to be on the lookout for a chinoiserie sugar bowl? I think I can handle that.
Sharing the ginger jar and blue and white tea cup and saucer will have to wait for another day!
Well, that's it until next time, friends!
