Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you. My hope is that by sharing my thrifty finds I motivate and inspire you to explore your own area thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and barn sales and make your own fabulous finds for yourself.

Today it's all about thrifted hen on nests, milk glass bud vases and German souvenir collectible plates. So let's get started.

 

This is by no means my first vintage glass hen on nest. I have a cobalt blue hen on nest, amber/carnival glass hen on nest, milk glass hen on nest and mini porcelain hen on nest. But this is my first clear glass one and it's a mini one at that. It was $1.99 at Goodwill.

Despite its smaller size, it still retains the great details found on larger ones.

Look at that face.

The bowl has a lovely pattern etched on it. It wasn't until I got it home that I noticed a small chip on the edge of it. But I love it just the same. You can't notice when the top is on.

I already had a small Stars and Bars pattern milk glass vase, but who wouldn't want the large version? I found a group of 6 of them at Goodwill but I restrained myself and only took one for $1.99. I believe it was made by Anchor Hocking. The pattern was discontinued in 1965. 

I just love the fluted details at the top of the vase.

Faux ranunculus are just perfect for a bold splash of color against the stark whiteness of the vases.

Looks like I've "accidentally" started a new collection. You can read about the other two vases in Thrill of the Hunt #104. 

And not surprisingly, something tells me my little collection is going to grow.

 

I fell in love with this little plate as soon as I saw it. The blue and white really drew me in. It's only 4" across but the artwork is very detailed.

 

It is a vintage Echt Kobalt Kaiser of Germany collectible plate. The picture is of the Mannheim Water Tower, or Mannheim Wasserturm, a well known landmark in Mannheim, Germany. I paid $1.99 for it.

 

It even has hanging hardware on the back in case I'd like to hang it on the wall. Either way, I know it will be displayed in some fashion along with my other growing "accidental" collection of blue and white plates.
