Today I'm sharing how to make an easy spring wreath from a vintage oval frame.

My first spring project, besides my No Sew Fabric Easter Carrots, is a unique spring wreath made out of a vintage oval frame and some inexpensive embellishments,

I came across the idea on the blog of someone who participates in our weekly Vintage Charm Party: Regina from Saved By Salvage. (I featured it in Vintage Charm Party # 327.) She totally inspired me with her DIY Spring Wreath and I knew I just had to make it.

I've owned this vintage oval frame for years. I don't remember its original color, I just know I painted it white and distressed it a bit. In the past I've been known to just prop it against the wall on a mantel or bookshelf and call it a day. I love the look of old, empty, detailed pretty frames. I already had the nest in my crafting stash, and I picked up some reindeer moss at Dollar Tree. (DT is a great place to get it -- have you seen the prices for it at craft stores?)

Unfortunately, I could not find my faux pussy willow stems for the life of me -- so off to Hobby Lobby I went.

They were more expensive than I would have liked (not on sale) but I really wanted to recreate the look.

Then I pulled out my glue gun and glued on the moss, nest and pussy willows, in that order.

While Regina used twine, I chose to use some romantic pastel pink velvet ribbon which just screamed "spring" to me.

I thought it worked well hanging inside another vintage white frame (one of my favorites).

I was going to hang it from an old white shutter like Regina did, but the foyer needed some extra spring time decor.

Now we can see it multiple times a day as we pass through the foyer.

See what I mean by easy spring wreath? Seriously, it was a cinch to make and you probably already have the supplies on hand.
Put your own spin on it. Use a square frame, some moss Easter bunnies, and different faux floral picks. You could definitely make this type of wreath for any holiday. Be creative!

Where would you hang yours? The front door? Over the mantel? Or maybe just place it on a shelf and lean it against the wall? No matter where you chose to hang yours it is guaranteed to bring you a smile and a renewed hope for spring and all that it brings. Happy Spring, friends!

Well, that's it for today, friends!
