Today I'm sharing 10 ways to repurpose vintage shutters.
One thing about home ownership -- the upkeep never ends. But when it comes
to needing new shutters I'm OK with it, since that means I get to use the
old, vintage shutters for one of my repurposed home decor projects!
Our house was built in the 1980's. I believe the shutters are original to
the house, so they're probably almost 40 years old. Aren't they
fabulous?
I have 6 large shutters (72" x 16") and 4 of the smaller shutters (62" x
16"). And I can't wait to get started on some repurposing projects!
I was surprised to see that the back side of the shutters were this pretty
robin's egg blue. Some are in better condition than others, so I'll keep
the best ones and try to sell the others.
There are myriad ways to repurpose vintage shutters. And right now I'm
trying to figure out what I want to do with mine. I searched for inspiration
online and picked 10 of my favorite ideas.
NOTE: I did my best to locate the original links for your reference, but
sometimes the sources are too old, no longer available or just plain
unclear. Feel free to add any omitted sources in the comments.

Such great ideas! I really like the shelving, coat rack, headboard, and picture display.
ReplyDeleteI love all the ideas but the headboard is a fave. I have one on my dining room ceiling with my chandelier. Gotta love shutters. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteAwesome ideas for using shutters, I found a pair last summer painted them, but haven't used them I really like the plant stand project.
ReplyDeleteI love your shutter ideas, Kathleen. Thanks so much for having us over to party!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome ideas. Especially the jewelry display.
ReplyDeleteI loved the headboard! What a statement on that wall! I was waiting to see if what you called planter shelves made it on the list; I had a friend who used to make them. I was suprised that no one hung French earwire earrings from the louvres! Great projects all! Can't wait to see what you do! Kathy A
