Welcome to Winter 2023! It's the time of year where Christmas decor comes down and then. . . . . what? That depends on your vision for the rest of the winter. Today I'm sharing my own vision (read: dreams) for some fresh and lovely French-inspired winter decor.
My motto? You don't need to spend a lot of money to decorate a warm and beautiful home. To the contrary, thrift store and vintage finds that speak to you are your best friend when it comes to decorating and creating a style that is your own.
While I've been wooed by farmhouse trends these past few years, I've decided it's time to slow that roll a bit and get back to basics. Hence my Winter Decor Vision Board. While it's just that -- a "vision board," something that will guide me in my decorating journey -- I will provide information for each of my choices for anyone who is interested in perhaps purchasing some of the items for yourself. Me, I'll be looking for similar items at thrift stores and estate sales!
1. French Country Panoramic Landscape Wall Art
2. 6 Light French Country Chandelier
3. Vintage Mountain Chalet Painting
4. French Toile Throw Pillow Covers
5. French Lace Cotton Tablecloth
6. Pastoral Scene Giclee Gallery Art Print
7. Lenox French Perle Scallop Ice Blue 12Pc Dinnerware Set
8. French Rattan Dining Chairs
9. French Country Antiqued White Decor Panels
I've been enamored of pastoral artwork for a while now, and actually picked up some on clearance at -- wait for it -- Michael's, a few months ago. And I was truly amazed at the selection that Amazon offers. However, I'm hoping to find some vintage artwork in my thrifting this coming year.
I'm also in love with French chandeliers, however costly they may be. That's why I'll be waiting to find some semblance of my vision while thrifting. The truly difficult part will be finding TWO of the same chandeliers, since we currently have two chandeliers hanging over our 96 inch long farmhouse table. Odd are slim, but I have faith!
I would absolutely love those French rattan dining chairs for my dining room. The vintage chairs we currently have are so vintage that the caning has started to unravel and there are actual "holes" that need to be mended. I looked into it and discovered that it's super-expensive to have the caning fixed. Hence my search for new-to-me chairs. While the odds may seem slim, I HAVE found numerous fabulous chairs over the years at my local Goodwill. So I will cross my fingers and continue the hunt.
The French country antiqued panels are a dream. I'm hopeful since I've actually had pretty good luck over the years with finding architectural salvage to use as decor. It doesn't have to be exactly the same. As long as it has that je ne sais quoi, you know?
Last but not least, pretty dishes and tablecloths are rampant at my local Goodwill haunts, so I'm confident that I can find some of each to my liking this coming year. You know what they say -- patience is a virtue!
Well, that's it for today, friends!
I hope you've enjoyed reading
and that I've inspired you in some way.

ReplyDeleteI really like French Country also, some of the items you have collected are amazing. I really don't think I can classify my décor. I love vintage cottage, country, shabby chic, farmhouse, primitive. Great post!
