Today I'm sharing how to make an easy and inexpensive DIY Fourth of July garland you can hang inside your home, or on your porch or patio, to show your pride in the good old U.S. of A.
While I'm not a huge Fourth of July decorator (I know, I say this every year), I did, however, decide to create a Fourth of July garland this year.
How To Make A Fourth of July Banner
After perusing my local Dollar Tree the other day I found myself staring at all the Fourth of July decorations -- an entire aisle no less. And while I noticed a premade tassel garland that might have done the trick alone I was sure I could make a better, more interesting one.
So I ended up buying the unadorned, red white and blue tassel garland, along with -- wait for it -- patriotic hot dog holders (how cute is that?), and four foam star wands which I wanted to use as stencils for paper stars. Total expenditure: $3.75.
I then took a foam star and traced it onto one of the paper hot dog holders and ended up with a great addition to the garland -- a star made out of "flag" paper.
I took the thin, red and blue ribbons that were tied around the foam stars and used them to hang the traced paper stars onto the tassel garland.
While it really wasn't long enough to hang on our pergola, I set it up there anyway so I could get some decent pictures during the golden hour.
I was thrilled with how my DIY Fourth of July garland turned out.
Just by adding some patriotic stars I think I created a much more festive Fourth of July garland overall.
It was truly super easy to make, and I can't wait to display it for Fourth of July!
Have you ever made a patriotic garland?
Well, that's it for today, friends!
