Thrill of the Hunt #136: Thanksgiving Turkey Tableware

August 14, 2023

Welcome, friends, to another fun-filled Thrill of the Hunt post where I share my latest thrifty (and usually) vintage finds with you. I also share how I use and style the finds in my home.

My hope is that by sharing my thrifty finds I can motivate and inspire you to explore your own local thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets, barn sales and clearance aisles in the hopes of making your own fabulous finds for yourself. So let's get started.

pair of white porcelain turkey salt and pepper shakers

These adorable white ceramic turkey salt and pepper shakers were a mere few dollars at Target's Bullseye Playground last fall. I only just took them out of the package recently.

While they cost me only $5.00, I've seen them selling for $8.00 and above on various websites. Sadly, Target no longer has them.

While we normally use salt and pepper grinders, I'm excited to use these ceramic turkey salt and pepper shakers on our Thanksgiving dinner table this year.

Next up is this whopping ceramic turkey soup tureen.

Also from Target, years ago, on clearance.

Believe it or not, I've yet to use it because we haven't hosted any large Thanksgiving gatherings since we've lived in this house (that's 19 years). So I figured it was about time to bring it up from the basement!

Finally, I just had to share this vintage Autumn Harvest hand painted turkey gravy tureen with ladle and BONUS turkey salt and pepper shakers for $3.99 from Goodwill! (The shakers were not listed on the box so I was totally surprised when I got home and found out there were shakers inside as well.)

The shakers look very different from each other. I'm not a turkey expert but maybe they're a male and female turkey? Either that or they're just two mismatched turkey shakers. After a detailed online search I couldn't find a similar set.

And there was even a bonus turkey shaker #3
(also looking a little different) hiding inside the larger turkey tureen !

Either way, I adore the turkey salt and pepper shakers and don't care if they're a matched set or not. And here's a secret: I might just actually paint them (and the colorful painted turkey tureen) white anyway! Which would make them match the Target shakers and the large turkey tureen.

One large, happy family. And the pumpkin-shaped cutting board? I shared where I got it and what it cost in DTT #25: Fall Haul

Well, that's it for today, friends!

Love all your turkey finds... I think those must be a set because I have sets where the male and female turkeys are different, too. Happy Monday!
