Chinoiserie Fall Tray Decor

October 6, 2023

Today I'm sharing a fall vignette that you can easily put together with items you have around the house. My fall vignette is filled with chinoiserie ginger jars, pumpkins, candles, fall floral picks and a farmhouse wood bead garland, all tucked inside a whitewashed woven wicker tray. I ask you: what's not to love?

Fall decor doesn't always have to be "traditional." For example, it doesn't have to be only bright orange hues and in-your-face fall decorations. You can use more subtle tones and less traditional means to convey the same sentiment -- fall should be a warm and cozy time!

This fall I decided to use what I already had around the house, other than a few munchkin and baby boo pumpkins I purchased locally, to create a stunning and elegant chinoiserie fall tray for the dining room.

This is one vignette I know I'm going to leave up for the entire fall season!

Overall, the chinoiserie fall tray vignette is perfect for my French farmhouse dining room.

The brass candlesticks are also a thrifted collection from over the years. You can use plain white taper candles or colorful ones, whatever you prefer. I chose to use orange and white spiral candles (or “twisty tapers”) from World Market.

Warm and cozy vibes, people!

I love using real pumpkins whenever possible. (I do, however, have a TON of faux pumpkins that I love and use as well.) Hence, my use of real orange munchkin and white baby boo pumpkins as basket filler.

It's no secret that I love, love, love chinoiserie ginger jars and all my blue and white porcelain pieces. So of course I placed some of my favorite chinoiserie pieces front and center in the vignette. The larger jar is from Old Time Pottery and the smaller one on the left is from Goodwill!

faux trailing red hops

Once I added a few fall floral picks, faux hops and some pussy willow stems into the ginger jars, my vignette was almost complete.

It just needed a strand of wooden farmhouse beads to finish it off.

I set the table for two, with vintage wicker chargers, vintage brown transferware dessert plates and orange glass pumpkins.

The unassuming turkey tureen, behind the dining table, sits atop a wood slice riser on a vintage French side table.

The thrifted altar candlesticks surrounding the turkey tureen are topped with moss balls and LED pillar candles.

The red trailing hops really pop against the blue and white chinoiserie jars.

Overall, the tray makes a bold seasonal statement.
