Decorating with munchkin pumpkins is one of my favorite ways to decorate
for fall. They're versatile and colorful, not to mention pretty darn
cute.
And baby boo pumpkins? Don't even get me started. I'm in love with tiger
striped pumpkins as well.
Today I'm sharing another easy way to display these adorable
harbingers of fall, along with a host of other pumpkin decorating ideas.
I mean, how cute is this little bright orange munchkin pumpkin? This one
worked perfectly as the topper to my pumpkin topiary -- another great way to
display and decorate with pumpkins.
I loved making this pumpkin topiary as part of my fall coffee table decor.
In addition to munchkins (mini orange pumpkins), I also love baby boo
pumpkins (mini white pumpkins). They, too, are perfect for simple and easy
fall decorating, in addition to tiger striped pumpkins as
well.
I recently filled a thrifted wicker tray with munchkin, baby boo and tiger
striped pumpkins for some gorgeous chinoiserie fall dining room decor.
Following my chinoiserie fall dining room tray I tackled yet another pumpkin decor project -- a pumpkin cloche! It was quick, easy, inexpensive and I'm loving it! For this vignette I used the small pumpkin trifecta PLUS some gourds, and it turned out to be gorgeous! I think it's my favorite pumpkin decor display to date.
That is, until I put this little pumpkin vignette together!
I've had vintage wooden spools for many years. While they can be
displayed in decorative vignettes all by themselves, I think they look
particularly lovely when used as pedestals for mini pumpkins! This fall display of wooden spools was set up in front of my DIY Faux Wood Stenciled Pumpkin Sign.
HOW TO STYLE MINI PUMPKINS ON VINTAGE SPOOLS
This is one of those no-brainers. I mean, obviously, you place the mini
pumpkins on top of the spools, right?
But how do you style them?
There are many ways you can style them. I've used mine in a mantel display
with other pumpkins, vintage books and candles in front of a fall
sign.
They can also be displayed on bookshelves, on a hutch or in a china cabinet
along with other complimentary fall decor -- especially other natural,
rustic elements like pine cones, acorns, and leaves.
Using different colors and textures helps to create a warm, cohesive look. My vignette has wood (pedestals and garland), twine (tassels), vintage paper (books), a fall candle and, of course, pumpkins in different colors and sizes as well. The faux wood sign in the background adds the illusion of another layer of texture.
You can also mix and match real and faux pumpkins in your decor. All the ones in this vignette are real except for the dark green one on the left.
Vintage book bundles are easy to DIY. Just pick up some books at the thrift store and carefully remove the front and back covers. Paperbacks are easier than hard covers for this. Many times I tie them together with twine.
Even a simple vignette of two mini pumpkins can make a huge statement.
I love the patina of these vintage wooden spools! Who knows? Maybe I'll use them as bottle brush Christmas tree stands this holiday season! What would you use them for?
Well, that's it for today, friends!
