Creating your own DIY Christmas wreath can be a very rewarding holiday project. And while Christmas wreaths come in many shapes, styles and sizes, creating your own Christmas wreath allows you to express your very own unique Christmas decorating style.
All it takes is a plain wreath and a few added seasonal touches.
CHUNKY KNIT CHRISTMAS WREATH
Over the years I've created more than a few DIY Christmas wreaths, one of which is a hand knit chunky Christmas wreath. One reason I love it is because it's quite plain, and can be dressed up or down depending on your preference. With a wreath like this one you can easily make a big visual impact by adding something as simple as a string of antique brass bells.
And while I really loved that clean, simple look, I was ready for a new look this year.
CHUNKY KNIT CHRISTMAS WREATH FACELIFT
You don't need to add much to your wreath to make a statement, and the update doesn't have to be expensive, or even permanent for that matter.
I went through my stash and came up with three decorations to add to my simple chunky knit wreath:
1) some mini wooden skis,
2) a small, rustic grapevine wreath,
and 3) a wooden Merry Christmas ornament sign from Dollar Tree.
First I played around and decided on placement of the decorations. Then I was ready to make it official.
I used floral wire to attach the grapevine wreath to the skis.
Then I hot glued the Merry Christmas ornament to the bottom portion of the skis.
The skis had brass hardware on the back, so I threaded the jute twine through the hardware and wrapped it all the way around to the back side of the wreath, creating somewhat of a loop that I then used for hanging.
Once the holidays are over I can easily remove the skis, and my wreath returns to a neutral winter white chunky knit wreath I can easily leave up for the rest of the winter.
And there you have it, folks. It was simple, inexpensive and pretty darn easy to give my chunky knit Christmas wreath a facelift. I waited longer for the hot glue gun to heat up than it took me to complete the update! I hope I sparked an idea for a wreath update of your own -- whether at Christmas or any other time of the year.
Well, that's it for today, friends!

Very cute. Of course I love the white cable knit to the wreath. This is a cute way to decorate it. Have a great week and getting ready for the big day. It is coming fast. Hugs. Kris
