Today I'm sharing how to create a spring bird cage vignette that can be adapted and/or modified depending on your personal preferences and what decor you might have on hand.
Spring decor should be fresh, light and fun. If you're a collector or vintage lover like me, you probably already have what you need to put together a fresh, light and fun spring vignette for your fireplace mantel or coffee table.

Full disclosure: I got the idea for this darling spring vignette from the Spring 2025 issue of Country Sampler Magazine.
First I dug out my vintage bird cage. I scored this chippy, shabby bird cage around five years ago at an antique mall in southwest Michigan. I first shared it in Thrill of the Hunt #105.
Next I gathered together some of my favorite mini blue and white
porcelain dishes and piled them high onto the boxwood wreath. You might
notice some of the dishes have metal plate hangers on them. That's because
I have a plan for them, to be revealed soon!
I added two blue willow tea cups to the top of the pile, and placed a faux bird's nest into the top tea cup.
The blue speckled eggs, moss and nest itself provide some much needed texture to the vignette.
Once I added the actual cage onto the base, my spring bird cage vignette was complete.
Not surprisingly, I chose my favorite blue and white chinoiserie and Blue Willow porcelain plates, saucers and tea cups. Any type of plate will do, although floral plates would be especially appropriate for a spring arrangement.
Since my bird cage is made of two separate parts, it was easy to lift the
top off and put the pile of plates into the cage. If your cage doesn't
come apart you'll have to tailor what you put into it to the size of the
door opening.
I've used this faux robin's nest in my spring arrangements for many years.
